Ben Hogan Concentration Drill

www.golfsnothard.com This is probably one of the hardest drills to do out of the sure frustration of going slow. I hated doing this with my teacher but it was good for just trying to truly rehearse what you are going to do. (By the way, this isn’t slow motion)

OHHH FUCK YEAH!
Unfortunately that doesn’t always hold true. When you slow down you can concentrate on the swing and have it scientifically perfect. When you swing at the ball, science goes out the window :S But i’ll admit, it certainly does help.
For most people, that is those that slice the ball, this might be helpful but if Hogan actually swung the club like this he would battle the hooks.
His real back swing is flatter and his real downswing is steeper.
this what a good straight shot looks like…goget about the lie…his arms and shaft angle are perfect…and I mean PERFECT!!! This swing everybody wants!
It is interesting because it show the difference between what Hogan thought he did and what he actually did.
wow at first I thought this was slow motion wtf? amazing
If only more golfers would work on doing something in slow-motion before ‘normal speed’ they’d be a gazillion times better
What exactly is the drill he is showing? Swinging in slow motion?
Gonna give it a try tomorrow, looks like a great ‘feel’ drill.
Looks like super slow motion camera work at first. I was trying this drill for the first time today.
Thanks Hawk.
Look at the clubhead speed at impact.
Slomotion swinging is a great way to creat awareness of what the muscles are doing and gives you a good feeling of where the club is.
Robert Karlsson does lots of slomotion rehearsal drills using mirrors ect which is very useful also
the fucking idiots that reckon this doesnt work are fucking stupid, i myself havent done this drill but know of it and its great successes, this is an awesome add mate, hogan was a fucking legend and will always remain that way
Agreed. Absolutely helps you refocus if you are erratic.
I use this drill when im erratic with the driver and it gets me hitting dead straight again. I also use it when im losing power and i regain my power.
I have done this for years……if you want muscle memory then do this drill – it is incredibly simple but also hard to do well at first – it will train your body to do the actions it is feeling -
o ok thatll be perfect for me actually. I have been having trouble timing my arms tosequence the downswing, the result is a big block, if u watch my vids…but i will def try this…i just hope i remeber to do it once the snow melts.
Ha. Don’t worry about looking like a moron. You’re in good company (although no one will have a clue what you are doing).
There is an added bonus. When you do the drill and you get good enough at it to start accelerating at the end of your downswing, it teaches you what it feels like to accelerate late. Perfect training for lag and can help with people that have tempo problems from the top of the swing.
And if you feel like an ass, just make someone try it. Odds… they’ll wiff.
ok i will….but it doesnt change anythin in your swing….it looks like sort of an amateur drill…but it is hogan…anyways thanx fr the post ill give er a try….but ill make sure im alone cuz ill look like a moron on the range.
The reason that it is a good drill is that he is concentrating on the entire swing. The only way to do that is to slow down the swing to a rediculous degree. Now, to give some credence, I have watched several pro players struggle with this drill because of how complicated it is to slow everything down that much. Most notably would be Franklin Langham and Charles Howell. Give it a try and get back to me.
If you can do it, accelerate in the last part of your down swing. Good luck.
no where in your description does it say he didnt top it….i realize it is at normal speed, becuz i read the description, so either explain how this is a good drill or dont bother justifying what u just said…
If you look at the description above, it says that he didn’t top the shot and yes, it did go about a yard. This isn’t in slow motion. This is full speed. He is rehearsing the entire swing.
looks like he topped it and it went a yard….probably good if u suck at golf…..i dont understand it….it doesnt look like it would help…explain why tis is a good drill.
