This analysis is ok but when he says it takes extraordinary athlectic ability to stay on balance is just not true. If you get in the proper set-up and take a swing under control, it is not dificult to stay balanced. It does help obviously to be in decent shape but I have seen even guys a bit overweight with incredible balance.
The narrator is clueless, it will do more harm than good if you listen.
Line drawers are by nature dipshits.
The narrator is Clem Darracott, the man who took the video at the 1967 Masters. Mr. Darracott is a gentleman and really did all of us Hogan fans a huge favor in publishing his film.
You should be ashamed of yourself. I am embarrased that you even call yourself a ‘benhoganfan’ with this kind of foul mouthed rant. The financial costs of producing something for distribution to fans is enormous and I have no apologies for trying to recover actual costs. Your comments are unacceptable.
@mcctee I bet Clem has made plenty of Hogan’s name and golfswing! How about yourself mcctee ? You made plenty right? And your mate Trolio with his single shift swing claiming Hogan’s secret!!! Why not let the masses enjoy the great mans swing without you bullshitting money hungry twats being dikwads
That is Clem Darracott who actually took this video and produced the dvd ‘In Pursuit of Perfection” This is the video and unless Bingo received permission from the copyright holder, this posting is a violation of YouTube policy. Its a great video.
Yeah that left shoulder isn’t open at all(hah) just about 20 degrees.Thats with the long clubs, even more open the shorter they get. This was pre-arranged to help w the hip turn and clearing.
For a long time instructors taught students to have the feeling you were “sitting” on a bar stool. I always believed we should have been teaching people to feel as though you were “leaning” back on a stool. The last thing you would ever want to do is sit in golf. Sitting will cause the golf club to swing too level to the ground in the downswing, and you will have a tendency to hit the ground behind the golf ball. w w w (dot) golferbreak80 (dot) c0m
iv gotta say that this is the first youtube video iv ever seen where people arnt arguing like 3 year olds about things that have nothing to do with the vid. Personally, iv tried this method before (im 15 years old) and its worked out quite well after you get the hang of it, but if you dont take time to get your hands, torso, and legs right it will play hell with your hits. For less experienced golfers (such as myself) i recommend that you stick to what your instructor (if you have one) has said
a master of his craft
…neither his hips or shoulders were parallel to the target line. -__- I hate when people draw random lines that mean absolutely nothing.
Tiger.. You never had to face the likes of Hogan at his prime. he would have waxed your wimpy ass

Tiger, are you disguised as mj102919 ?! I’m disgusted at what you did to your family you cheating pig! Ironic that you are watching a clip of a true gentleman….
Interesting comments about the “draw-fade” ball flight. I can honestly say that I have played a draw that reaches pinnacle and falls as a fade. I don’t know how or why this happens but it does……but surely not everyday. On days I hit a “FaDraw” (3outof10rounds) as I call it, I always shoot between 63 and 68. On day I can’t seem to hit the “FaDraw” (7outof10 rounds), I shoot between 72 and 78. People are shocked to see the ball flight on days I hit it.Wish I knew how so it could be everyday.
That’s hogan talking!!!!
Anybody know who the narrator is on this video? Sounds like he may have known Hogan personally.
True, Hogan did have an inside square inside arc. He also played with an open stance from about a 6 iron up which obviously promotes a fade, generally though the plane of his swing allowed the clubhead to come in at a relatively shallow angle which also promotes a lower flight. Hogan played all his standard shots from the same position relative to his left foot, only his right foot moved but note that this is just right about where the clubhead starts on the inside again hence the ‘Hogan fade’
I agree GangstaYST. I believe if you were to take a close look at Hogan’s divot, you would find that it would start pretty square and turn ever so slightly to the left. This insisde to inside path can only happen if one is perfectly on plane. It’s no wonder he could hit any shot he wanted. I could too if I swung that well on plane.
Nobody can hit a ‘ draw fade ‘. However, Hogan at impact had the club ever so slightly coming back on the inside and ever so slightly open we are talking fractions of a degree here this is what gave hist shots that characteristic low left to right flight. Hogan could play any shot he wanted though, his understanding of the game was phenomenal and i don’t believe there were many shots that he didnt have a clear idea in his head how to play and he could execute his ideas beautifully
Hogan was the man. That said, a draw fade, as I understand it, does not exist. Without the aid of the wind, a ball can not turn to the left then turn back to the right.
Atleast we have video, just think if Hogan was before Bobby Jones… We would have nothing but word of mouth. Glade to see younger generation still watching Hogan..
you may be right blake but i have a hard time believing hogan or anybody for that matter hit a draw fade…maby its possible i dont know but ive never seen it done…unfourtunatly im to young to have had the privelage to watch hogan hit inperson i imagine its was spectacular….id love it but all i have is video of him to watch
I want you to do something for me, please! Before we start to argue go look at some of the videos on Youtube of Hogan, watch where his ball starts and watch whats int he back ground. Rember he could hit any shot, but we are talking baout the shot that made him famous. Let me know what you see, in the other video’s
